DES MOINES, Iowa -- Des Moines Police say they have located the vehicle driven in a fatal hit and run this morning, but are yet to find the suspect.

Dispatch received a call about the accident just after 2 AM.

Officers say 21 year old Warner Robinson was lying face down in the west bound lanes of the 300 block of University Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No witnesses have been found but thanks to surveillance cameras, officers were able to identify a newer model, white Dodge Avenger.

While the driver is yet to be found, there is evidence that a lack of visibility could be a factor in the accident.

"He (Robinson) was not in a marked crosswalk. The road was lit but the accident wasn't directly underneath the streetlight. He was dressed in fairly dark clothing,” said Sgt. Jason Halifax of the Des Moines Police Department.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Polk County Crime Stoppers at 223-1400.
