DES MOINES, Iowa – Authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating two men wanted for questioning related to a Des Moines shooting as well as the second victim shot in the incident.

Authorities say the shooting happened just after 10 a.m. on May 17 in the 1400 block of East Grand Avenue. Police say the shooting happened during a drug transaction.

Upon arrival, police found 18-year-old Kamaury Watson, of Des Moines, with a gunshot wound to the back. Watson was transported to the hospital for further treatment before being arrested for unrelated warrants.

Police said Tuesday that through the course of the investigation, they identified Maurice Boone Jr., 23, of Des Moines, and his brother Brian Boone, 17, of Des Moines, as two people of interest. They are wanted for further questioning.

Authorities also discovered Watson was not the only person wounded in the shooting. Evidence indicates that a male with Watson was also shot and wounded, but police say he fled the area before officers responded.

The unidentified second victim is described as a black male in his late teens. The condition of the unidentified victim is unknown, as there are no reports of him receiving any treatment in the Des Moines area for injuries consistent with the shooting.

Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the Boone brothers and identifying the second victim.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Youngblut, Des Moines Police Department at 515-237-1468, or CrimeStoppers of Central Iowa, 515-223-1400.
