CLIVE, Iowa — Clive police say two people who died in a Labor Day weekend shooting shot each other, but investigators say the case isn’t closed.

Police are still asking for help piecing together how the shooting unfolded at the 7 Flags Event Center in the early morning hours of Sept. 5. Two other people were injured in the shooting.

Police say 44-year-old Kevin Hall and 29-year-old Johnny Jackson died following a shoot-out in the parking lot. One of the two injured victims was not involved in the fight and got caught in the crossfire.

Authorities say a lack of cooperation is major obstacle in their investigation.

At a news conference Wednesday morning, Police Chief Michael Venema said, “It’s extremely frustrating for our investigators. We’ve spent weeks working this case. This is all something that could have been taken care of relatively quickly if people had come forward. It’s also something that could help prevent future violence if we could bring people to justice when these instances occur.”

Police believe at least two guns involved in the shooting were removed from the scene.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the Clive Police Department.
