FORT DODGE, Iowa -- Police say they are questioning an accused burglar about the vandalism that shut down the Webster County Courthouse last week.

Authorities charged 34-year-old Daniel Swick with burglary and criminal mischief after they say he allegedly broke into a Fort Dodge business around 2 a.m. Tuesday. While inside the store, he set off a fire extinguisher that forced the business to close briefly to clean up.

Officers arrested him inside the store.

Now, Swick is being questioned about the vandalism at the Webster County Courthouse.

The dust that coated the inside of the courthouse was from chemicals sprayed from several fire extinguishers. The damage forced the county to close the courthouse for the week for cleaning.

The courthouse reopened Monday.
