PLEASANT HILL, Iowa — A local business went up in flames for the second time in two years Thursday night.

Crews from Pleasant Hill and Altoona responded to Hawkeye Wood Shavings in the 1500 block of Sloans Way around 11:00 p.m.

Firefighters say they were able to see the fire from several blocks away. When they got there they used a new piece of equipment to dump a large amount of water on the building.

“Typically, yeah, one of our hand lines would be about 150 gallons to 200 gallons a minute. With this large tube, it’s flowing about 3,000 gallons a minute,” says Pleasant Hill Fire Chief Tom Solberg

Firefighters remained on scene for much of the night, putting out hot spots.

No one was hurt and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Authorities believe the fire was intentionally set .
