Plea Deal in Sexual Abuse Case for Fake ‘Twilight’ Actor

NEWTON, Iowa — A California man has pleaded guilty to third-degree sex abuse in Jasper County.

In return, three others charges will be dropped against David Lavera during sentencing June 8th. They include enticing a minor, attempt to entice a minor, and carrying weapons.

The 33-year-old California man posed as an actor from the Twilight series and performed a martial arts routine at some Newton schools. He is accused of luring a girl into his car and officials say he also took video a young girls in the bathroom.

Lavera also took a plea deal in federal court last month. He’ll be sentenced in that case on June 5th for possession of child pornography.
