The importance of physical activity was the focus of a special lesson in Des Moines on Tuesday.
Students from several public schools participated in an outdoor exercise session. The goal was to improve fitness and motor skills, and teach the importance of physical activity.
The event was organized by Doctor Ed Thomas, Iowa department of Education's physical education consultant. Doctor Thomas says one of the students' favorite pieces of equipment is the medicine ball.
The kids also performed exercises on trampolines during the afternoon workout.
