DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police are calling a deadly stabbing on the city’s south side a “justifiable homicide.”
Police were called to 1141 Amos Avenue at about 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Officers say Jahron Parker, 34, was visiting a resident living in the basement of the house. They say Parker went upstairs and pounded on the door of the first floor where another resident lives.
Christopher Bear answered the door and Parker attacked him forcing him back into the house, according to police.
Officials say at one point during the altercation Parker produced a knife and was stabbed.
After Bear saw Parker had been stabbed, police say he began to provide aid to him.
Paramedics took Parker to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police say Bear will not face charges.
The incident marks the 12th homicide of the year Des Moines police have investigated.
