With the mercury expected to be in the 90’s throughout the week, there are some concerns about overheated pets.

This week, the ARL has fielded a lot of complaints ranging from people leaving pets in cars, to animals remaining outside without proper shelter and water.

Channel 13 tagged along while an officer removed a dog and eleven dehydrated puppies from a Des Moines home.

“Don’t let your animal suffer.” says Josh Colvin with the ARL,  “If you’re ok but the animal doesn’t have any way of cooling itself or you don’t have a place for him, obviously call us.”

The ARL will take in animals to keep them cool during this hot spell.
