DES MOINES, Iowa — One person was shot and killed on the northside of Des Moines Saturday afternoon.

Officers with the Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a shooting just before 3 p.m. in the 1200 block of 6th Avenue. When first responders arrived on scene they discovered one person had been injured in the shooting. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where they later passed away.

The Des Moines Police Department has now launched a homicide investigation into the shooting. No information regarding a suspect or what led to the shooting has been released at this time.
