DES MOINES, Iowa- One man was injured following an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in Des Moines.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a domestic dispute at an apartment located at 6710 SE 5th Street. When police arrived, they found Brian Lee Beeler, 41, of Des Moines, inside his aunt's 2nd floor unit.

According to police, Beeler did not cooperate with officers and was acting erratically. He pulled one knife from his waistband and approached the officers. An officer fired a taser at Beeler but missed. He continued advancing toward the officers while brandishing the knife. Fearing for their safety, both officers fired their duty weapons at Beeler striking him.

He was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center by ambulance where he is in critical but stable condition.

The officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Senior Police Officer Cody Willis and Senior Police Officer Peter Wilson. Both officers were hired in July 2008.  According to the police department, both will be on paid administrative leave pending the completion of an internal review of the shooting.

This was the third officer-involved shooting in Des Moines in 2014. In the other two cases, the officers were cleared and have returned to duty.
