Des Moines leaders are moving forward with plans to a name a playground after a murdered metro woman.

Ashley Okland was found shot to death inside a West Des Moines town home in April, 2011.

The case remains unsolved.

Okland volunteered and served as a Young Variety board member, an organization that helps children with special needs.

The Des Moines parks department held a public meeting Tuesday evening to consider naming a new playground at Ewing Park the, Ashley Okland Star Playground.

The playground is designed specifically for children with special needs.
