A Sioux City man has been sentenced to 25-years in prison for shooting a police officer.

A judge handed the sentence down Friday morning to 22-year-old Jamal Dean. Dean must serve 17 and a half years before he has a chance of parole.

In April, Dean shot several rounds into the patrol car of Officer Kevin McCormick during a traffic stop in April. One of the shots hit McCormick in the head.

Following the shooting, McCormick has made a full recovery and is back on the job.
