Off-Duty Trooper Cited for Speeding After Internal Investigation

DES MOINES, Iowa — An off-duty Iowa State Trooper who was pulled over for speeding in November but not given a ticket, has now been cited.

Captain Ken Clary was stopped on November 24th on I-80 in Jasper County at mile marker 159. According to the Des Moines Register he was driving a van belonging to Special Olympics.

The trooper who pulled Clary over did not file an incident report or write a ticket at the time of the stop.

After an internal investigation into the action by the Iowa Department of Public Safety the citation for $208.50 was issued to Clary. The citation says he was going 92 mph in a 70 mph zone.

The department also says administrative action has been taken in the case, but the type of action will not be publicly released.
