DES MOINES, Iowa — A news conference is being held Thursday by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation to release new details in the case about a winning Hot Lotto ticket bought in 2010.
The ticket was worth $14.3 million and was purchased at a metro Quick Trip in December of 2010. Only hours before the prize expired, a New York attorney came forward with the ticket saying he represented the buyer, using a trust. The attorney refused to name the winner and withdrew the claim.
The DCI and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office have been working with the Iowa Lottery in an ongoing criminal investigation involving the ticket.
The news conference is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Headquarters in Des Moines.
