The Newton School District is increasing security at their seven buildings.

The district will install 114 surveillance cameras to parking lots, hallways and common areas like lunch rooms.

The security improvements will cost about $675,000 with about half of that money being funded by a federal grant.

The cameras should be operational by next school year.
