DES MOINES, Iowa -- Many of us are used to scrolling through an Instagram feed online. You can see the photos on the wall this weekend.
The Des Moines Social Club is hosting its first annual Instagrammies Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. Rob Stephens has three photos in the running. He says, "I'm nervous because I have to compete against all the cats. There's a lot of cats and food photos."
About 1,500 people submitted their best shots in categories including selfies, food porn, cheesy Des Moines and cats and not cats. One hundred Instagram shots made the cut to compete in the show. Visitors will get 10 heart stickers to place next to their favorites.
Gallery Director Elise Goodmann says, “It's become a fun way to involve people in the community who maybe feel, well I'm not an artist, but still love to use Instagram in an artistic way."
It costs $5 to see the show at the Des Moines Social Club’s Viaduct Art Gallery.
