Almost fifty years before it became our national anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner was a baseball anthem sung before and during games since the 1880s.

So fans of our national pastime should be experts on our national anthem, shouldn’t they?

The song was put to official use in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson, but not made the official anthem until 1931 when Iowan Herbert Hoover gave it the final stamp.
