This weekend the US Cellular 250 takes over the Iowa Speedway in Newton but Wednesday one of the NASCAR drivers practiced on a much smaller track.

Driver Kenny Wallace took on fans in a remote controlled car on a custom-built racetrack at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines.

Adults and kids alike participated in the competition.

Wallace says even on this track racing is serious business.

“You know what’s funny about competition – Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt, Jr… we race slot cars, we race go-karts… we’re racing. It’s game on. This is real,” says the 49-year old.

Winners received prizes including tickets to the race and the Iowa State Fair.
