The Iowa Department of Public Safety has released more information about a weekend officer involved shooting in Council Bluffs.

Officials say Sunday morning 27-year-old Michael Lee was shot while trying to elude Iowa State Patrol Trooper Tim Sieleman.

Sieleman was trying to pull Lee over for not having license plates on the truck he was driving.

Other troopers were able to stop Lee after they rammed his truck, causing it to roll.

Troopers arrested Lee and paramedics took him to the hospital. He remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators later found out that Lee had outstanding warrants for his arrest and that the truck he was driving had been stolen.

Trooper Sieleman was not hurt in the incident.  He’s on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Sieleman is a 16 year veteran of the Iowa State Patrol.
