POLK COUNTY, Iowa — Polk County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle early Thursday morning, but the motorcyclist got away.
A deputy tried to stop the motorcycle around 12:30 a.m. near NE 3rd and Aurora but the driver, who wasn’t able to be identified, refused and took off. The chase went onto I-80 eastbound and then west on University Avenue.
The motorcycle reached speeds up to 105 miles per hour during the chase and several traffic violations were racked up.
The pursuit was called off after about 20 minutes on Euclid Avenue when officials deemed it wasn’t safe enough to continue.
