WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- A local mother and daughter are helping a good cause with their hair.

Stacie Wright and her six-year-old daughter, Savannah, went to a West Des Moines salon Wednesday to cut off several inches of their hair.

It's all for Beautiful Lengths, an organization that makes wigs for cancer patients.

This is only the second time Savannah has cut her hair and she's donated it each time.

Wright says they both have a hair color that's in high demand.

“The color of our hair is natural and so, yeah we don't feel the need to color it or even highlights, or anything. So having that natural color is a big benefit.
