EVANSDALE, Iowa — After Evansdale police renewed their plea to the public for help in finding the person responsible for killing Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins, tips have been pouring in.
Earlier this week Chief Kent Smock said the department wanted to talk to anyone who was familiar with Seven Bridges Wildlife area or to those who know someone who is.
That’s where the girls’ bodies were found in December 2012.
Within minutes of the news conference the phone started ringing. In fact, the department received 100 new calls to the tipline.
“We’re still evaluating all of them. Some of them are a little bit off topic, but they’re all valuable to us. The majority by far are on task. They’re giving us the information that we asked for,” says Smock.
The police department had to call in extra help to field all the phone calls.
