The Des Moines Police and Fire Departments made a special visit to a baseball diamond Wednesday evening.

The two civil service departments teamed up for “Angels in the Outfield,” a program which helps special needs children play baseball while their parents are able to watch from the stands. During the games, every child bats and all the games end in a tie.

The game was played at Kiwanis Miracle Little League Field, just west of Principal Park.
