ACKLEY, Iowa — Todd Ruszkowski has renovated a downtown Ackley storefront into the Midnight Gallery, where he sells glass painted vases in the gallery.
“It wasn’t meant to be ordinary. It’s meant to be extraordinary,” said Ruszkowski. “I didn’t want to do something that was ‘plain Jane.’ I wanted to do something that rocked people’s world.”
The gallery features intricate lighting coupled with ambient sound of running water, along with Frank Sinatra type music in the background.
Ruszkowski works as an Ackley Police officer overnight to pay the bills, but his passion is his art. He also actually lives in the middle of the Midnight Gallery.
