CLIVE, Iowa — Thousands of MidAmerican Energy customers in Clive, West Des Moines, and Waukee were without power Monday.

The power outage began at 9:40 a.m., but was officially restored by 12:40 p.m. It was caused by a piece of equipment in a substation that needed repaired.

The north boundary of the outage was the 13000 block of Summit Drive in Clive, the south boundary was the 4500 block of South Jordan Creek, the east boundary was the 6000 block of Ashworth in West Des Moines, and the west boundary was the 800 block of SE Bob White Lane in Waukee.

Almost 7,400 customers were affected at the peak of the outage, according to MidAmerican Energy.
