VILLISCA, Iowa — A man in southwest Iowa stabbed himself at an attraction for ghost hunters overnight.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were called to the Villisca Ax Murder House at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday and found Robert Laursen Jr. with self-inflicted wounds.

Authorities say the Wisconsin man was visiting the infamous house as part of a recreational paranormal investigation.

Laursen was flown to an Omaha hospital. His condition hasn’t been released.

Over 100 years ago, the building saw the murder of two adults and six children. The crime has never been solved.
