Man Killed After Crashing Motorcycle in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa — A man was killed following a motorcycle crash in Des Moines Tuesday night.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., Des Moines police officers responded to the 2200 block of Southeast Virginia Avenue to investigate a report of a motorcycle crash.

The responding officers located a single motorcycle crash with one adult male injured at the location. The injured man, who was driving the motorcycle, was transported to a local hospital by Des Moines Fire Department medics.

The man later died as a result of the injuries sustained during the crash, according to authorities.

The preliminary investigation indicates that excessive speed may have been a contributing factor to this crash.
