WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- West Des Moines police are looking for a man who escaped after being held at gun point by bounty hunters Saturday afternoon.

"We started to get phone calls from area motels and other businesses that some kind of wild event was going on," says West Des Moines Police Sgt. Ken O'Brien.

It started in the Motel 6 parking lot on Jordan Creek Parkway just after 3 p.m. Police say two bounty hunters from A-2-Z Bail Bonds tracked 26-year-old Eldar Krijestorac to that location. He's wanted for skipping court on drug charges.

"I see some guy running up saying something, pointing something," says Dale Bingaman.

Bingaman says was just giving a friend of a friend a ride and got caught in the middle of the melee. After a brief struggle with the bail bondsmen, Krijestorac managed to get behind the wheel of Bingaman's truck.

"Basically floored it in the direction of this bounty hunter and he fired shots at the car," says O'Brien.

"Shot the tires out. Shot the radiator," says Bingaman.

The suspect didn't get far in the stolen truck. Krijestorac ran into a nearby hotel and then escaped again. Police searched the hotels and area businesses.

"We'll put this investigation together and send it out to the Dallas County Attorney's Office to review on whether or not any charges will be filed," says O'Brien.

A-2-Z Bail Bonds would not comment on the case. West Des Moines Police say the bounty hunters alerted them that they were in the area and looking for the wanted suspect.
