URBANDALE, Iowa – Police arrested and charged a man who was dressed as a clown for assault in Urbandale Tuesday.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., Urbandale police officers responded to the 4500 block of NW Urbandale Drive following multiple reports from citizens regarding a male wearing a clown mask that was possibly armed with a machete and chasing two citizens.
Upon arrival, officers made contact with a witness who identified the male suspect. Officers located a metal baseball bat and clown mask at the scene, which had been used in the assault, according to authorities.
The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Jacob Steil of West Des Moines. Steil was arrested at the scene and charged with two counts of assault with a weapon.
