A man has been arrested after he raced around a Des Moines parking lot with “a knife held between his teeth” witnesses said. He then lead police on a chase Thursday morning.

Officers say Charlie Stroud was driving and shouting at people at Hy-Vee on East Euclid at around 11:30 a.m. When police showed up, the 27-year-old drove off.

The pursuit ended when Stroud, who had been drinking but was under the legal limit, pulled into a driveway in the 400 block of Northeast 55th.

Stroud is in the Polk County Jail charged with eluding and reckless driving.
