A Des Moines gas station is dropping its request for a liquor license after neighbors spoke out against it.
Des Moines city councilwoman Christine Hensley says Quik Trip officials will not seek a liquor license for its store at 1421 Ingersoll Avenue.
Last week neighbors of the store protested the store’s license application at the city council, saying selling hard liquor will add to crime and litter problems in the Sherman Hill neighborhood.
Quik Trip and Des Moines city officials met Wednesday to discuss those issues.
After the meeting a Quik Trip spokesperson said it was in the best interest of everyone involved to drop the liquor license request.
