Family and friends gathered to remember a Des Moines man who died after being shot earlier this month.
31-year-old Rashad Adair died from his injuries on Christmas day. Adair was shot multiple times while sitting in a parked car in the 1400 block of Washington.
Saturday night family and friends returned to the same location to remember his life.
Family and friends lit a candle to remember a son, brother and father taken too soon.
“It’s just real hard to believe, I mean he was a good man he took care of me my whole life, he’s the older brother and I’m the baby, and I’m going to miss him so much,” says Adair’s sister Ashley White.
With candles glowing, Adair was remembered as a man who always put his family first.
Adair left behind four kids ranging in ages from one to fifteen years old.
Family members say they still haven’t come to terms with what happened.
“It’s very sad, in my heart that we have lost him, because I loved him dearly,” says Adair’s Uncle Harry Young.
Prayers were said and stories shared, Saturday would have been Adair’s 32nd birthday.
“We just had a lot of good memories growing up and it’s hard to know he’s not here anymore,” says Adair’s Cousin Amanda Butts.
Family members say they’ll continue to honor Adair’s life, but still have many unanswered questions into why he was killed to begin with.
“We definitely would like some justice for Rashad, because this was uncalled for definitely, and he didn’t deserve this, so we do need some justice,” says Butts.
Adair’s death marks the 9th homicide of the year.
So far no one has been arrested and police haven’t announced anyone as a possible suspect.
