Seventeen couples used Leap Day to begin their lives together.

Star 102.5 hosted a Leap Day wedding Wednesday morning at the Blank Park Zoo.

Producer Kurt with The Big Ken and Colleen Morning Show is an online ordained minister and married the couples. More than 200 guests attended the mass nuptials, which included a band, flowers and mini cake for each couple.

The radio station’s morning team started planning the wedding in January.

“We saw an article that said ministers were hard to find on Leap Day because everyone wants to get married because it’s a special event. It happens once every four years and Ken and Colleen said we have one ordained online. He can get couples married,” said Kurt Van Auken.

The couples say they couldn’t pass up the unique event on a day that only comes around once every four years.
