BOONE, Iowa -- A man has been charged following a stabbing at the Boone Speedway which resulted in a victim being sent to the hospital early Monday morning.

At approximately 12:45 a.m., Boone police officers were sent to the Boone Speedway on a report of an assault where a victim had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers located the male victim with several stab wounds to his abdomen. He was transported by ambulance to the Boone County Hospital before being sent to Mercy Hospital by air ambulance.

47-year-old Jeff Davis, who police say produced a knife and stabbed the victim, has been charged with assault with intent to inflict serious injury after getting involved in an altercation with the victim.

Davis is now being held at the Boone County Jail.
