WEST DES MOINES, Iowa –Joni Ernst arrived at the West Des Moines Marriott around 6:00 election night.
Ernst has spent the past 24 hours campaigning in several cities including Ames, Cedar Falls, Fort Dodge, Sioux City and Council Bluffs as the closely fought Senate race came to an end. She cast her vote Tuesday morning in her hometown of Red Oak right when the polls opened.
When asked if she was excited, Ernst responded saying, “I’ve been excited for this day.” Ernst headed up to her hotel room with her family. She is expected to speak after Gov. Terry Branstad.
Ernst’s opponent Rep. Bruce Braley is expected at Hotel Fort Des Moines downtown where the Democrats will speak.
