The Iowa Ombudsman’s office will investigate the conditions at the Iowa Juvenile Home in Toledo.

Earlier this year, a Des Moines Register investigation revealed teenage girls have been kept in isolation cells for months at a time.

The bedrooms have been used for decades at the facility.

Senator Amanda Ragan and Senator Jack Hatch wrote formally asking for the investigation.

Governor Branstad says his administration is planning major changes in the operations at the home.
