WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – The $900 million Powerball jackpot is the largest ever in United States history.

“I think I figured it out one time, if I won $4 million I could live comfortably for 40 years. So when you’re thinking $900 million, it’s ridiculous, it`s a ridiculous amount of money,” Iowan Jerry Dushmore said.

Even though there is only a one-in-293 million chance in winning, it's expected that more than $400 million in tickets will be sold on Saturday alone.

People feeling lucky lined up at a Hy-Vee in West Des Moines to purchase theirs.

Some Iowans have an idea of what they would do with the winnings, while others are having trouble wrapping their mind around that kind of money.

“I’d probably ask my dad for advice and try to save some of it, buy a house and travel too,” Kim Linde said.

“We`d do a lot with charities, our church, and things along that line. Obviously travel and buy a new car,” Tom Gay said.
