VAN METER, Iowa -- The Iowa Veterans Cemetery saw a large crowd in honor of Memorial Day.

Veterans and their families joined Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds and Congressman David Young in Van Meter to honor those who have served and fought for our country.

“A heartfelt thanks to the veterans with us today and to the men and women who are currently serving. And especially to your families we also say thank you for your service and for your tireless support for your loved ones,” Reynolds said.

The cemetery is the final resting place for nearly 3,000 from Iowa and 38 other states.
