Some drivers decided to wait out the storm before heading out of town for the holidays.

Tisha Armatys said her family left Cedar Rapids Sunday morning, after the snow had stopped falling.  They are all traveling to Nebraska Sunday night and will head to Kansas on Monday.

Armatys said they decided to wait out the storm because they are traveling with kids and to make sure the roads would be in better shape.

“The roads in town were okay, the side streets were a little icy,” Armatys said.

“Once we got onto I-80 it was fine.  The wind was pretty bad, that was probably the hardest part,” she said.
