Iowa is one of the best places in the US to live according to a report by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
OECD ranked the 362 regions of its 34 member nations using nine measures of well-being. They were income, jobs, health, access to services, environment, education, safety, civic engagement and housing
Australia led in the country-by-country rankings with the United States in fifth.
Within the US, Iowa ranked fourth behind Vermont, Minnesota and New Hampshire. Mississippi ranked last.
A low homicide rate, low unemployment and good access to housing helped Iowa towards the top of the ranking.
Australia’s capital region Canberra was listed as the best place in the world to live.
