DES MOINES, Iowa–Families piled into Hy-Vee Hall Wednesday night to celebrate New Year’s Eve a little earlier. ImaginEve included more than 25 inflatables, entertainment and a special tween zone. The free event brought out more than 8,000 people. Event organizers say they host the event every year to provide a safe and fun place for families to bring their children.
“This is something we can do for kids and families on a holiday that’s more traditionally for adults to give something for kids and families to do earlier in the evening,” says Jessica Barlow with the Downtown Community Alliance, who hosted the event.
The night ended with a count-down and confetti drop at 8:00 p.m. followed by a fireworks display.
