An effort to reduce deaths on Interstate 80 appears to be a success in Iowa.
The I-80 Challenge cracked down on speeders and distracted drivers in the hopes of curbing fatalities across 11 states that I-80 runs through. State highway patrol agencies stepped up enforcement on about 2,900 miles of I-80.
It started last week and ended at midnight Wednesday.
It appears there have been no deaths on the Iowa stretch of I-80 during the challenge.
The other states participating in the challenge are: California, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Wyoming.
There’s no word on the final results for those states.
