DES MOINES, Iowa – More than 800 MidAmerican Energy customers lost power Wednesday morning near downtown Des Moines.
MidAmerican Energy said the outage was caused by a downed wire near the Ingersoll business district. A thunderstorm was moving through the area at about the time the power went out, Meteorologist Megan Salois said.
The outage, which also affected the Channel 13 studios, caused traffic lights to go out along Grand Avenue and Ingersoll Avenue.
Power was restored to most customers shortly after 8 a.m.
