There was a different color represented on the drake softball diamond today, pink instead of Bulldogs blue.

15-year-old Kelsey Michelsen, lost her battle to a brain tumor last Decemeber.

Michelsen was adopted by the Drake softball team as an honorary team member. Saturday’s game was in honor of her. The players and coaches say Kelsey gave them a new outlook on life.

Drake assistant softball coach, Nicole Wood says, “She [Kelsey] really did so much for us, she gave the girls a whole different perspective on what it means to fight and give everything you have.”

The pink was Michelsen’s favorite color. The jerseys were auctioned off with the proceeds going to the “Team Kelsey Foundation.” The “Team Kelsey Foundation” raises money for families affected by childhood cancer.  If you would like to donate, visit their website.
