A West Des Moines neighborhood came alive with the sights and sounds of the holiday season on Thursday night.

Valley Junction held their annual Jingle in the Junction Christmas Spectacular.

More than 150,000 Christmas lights were strung throughout the business district to welcome Santa and a horse drawn carriage.

Along with the fun was a window display contest between 12 different shops.

They each decorated their windows in the spirit of this year’s theme, winter wonderland, but these weren’t ordinary window displays.  The rules this year required the windows to include something living.  One shop had Santa in theirs.

Shop owner Kelsey Mahalovich said, “It’s really fun, and people get really into it, and everyone votes for their favorite one.”

If you weren’t able to attend this week, Valley Junction will hold a second night of festivities on Thursday, December 13.
