Heavy rain has left fields near Sigourney washed out after getting nearly four inches of rain.

In the last week, the area has seen high water standing in fields delaying farmers who still need to plant.

One farmer says it’s not unusual for his father’s driveway to flood after just an inch of rain but this time, his acreage looks more like an island.

Keith Davis says he’s thankful that he finished planting last week.

“There’s a lot of people not done around here. We’re lucky we’re done but there’s a lot of people that needs to get back to the field,” Davis said.

The Sigourney area is expected to get another 3 inches of rain Sunday night.
