DES MOINES, Iowa -- Authorities have released the name of the man shot Tuesday during a suspected drug deal.

Des Moines police say 18-year-old Kamaury Watson was shot in the shoulder about 10 a.m. in the 1400 block of East Grand Avenue. Police say Watson was shot during  a drug transaction.

Watson ran a few blocks away after being shot before he collapsed. He is expected to be OK and is still in the hospital as of Wednesday. Des Moines police say he will be arrested for felony warrants after receiving treatment.

"There's going to be one arrest coming very quickly because the victim has several felony weapons-related warrants," Des Moines Police Sgt. Paul Parizek said. "As soon as he has his treatment at the hospital, we'll probably take him into custody for those issues."

Watson was wanted on trafficking in stolen weapons.

Tuesday Shooting

According to a police report, Des Moines officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of East Grand Avenue about 10:10 a.m. after several callers reported shots fired.

A black male with tan pants ran eastbound. A black-colored sedan was also possibly involved.

The police report says the victim, Kamaury Watson, was found lying up against a house and that he had been shot once. He was alert and talking. Watson told police he did not know who shot him.
