A state lawmaker is calling on his fellow representatives to create new gun restrictions as soon as the legislative session begins.

Democratic Representative Dan Muhlbauer wants laws to include confiscating certain types of guns even if they were legally purchased.

In an interview with the Carroll Daily Times Muhlbauer said, “we cannot have big guns out here, as far as these big guns that are out here, the semiautomatics, we can’t have those running around.” He went on to say, “We need to get them off the streets illegally and even if you have them, we need to start taking them, we can’t have those out there. Because if they’re out just circulating around to the wrong people. Those guns should not be in public hands.”

Representative Muhlbauer wants also new restrictions on violent video games, but says he doesn’t know how the legislature could go about it.
