DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Greater Des Moines Partnership's economic development team held Accelerate DSM on Wednesday to assist businesses with relocating or expanding their operations in central Iowa.

The event includes roundtable discussions to assist entrepreneurs with industry veterans in marketing, investments, and sharing lessons from failure and more.

"I think that it's important to have events like these for entrepreneurs to come together, and not just entrepreneurs, but people who are business-minded community leaders, investors and people who are generally interested in seeing the city grow. This is one of the key ways that happens so I think for all those people this is a great event and I'm excited to be able to have it take place here in Des Moines today," said Derian Baugh, CEO of Men`s Style Lab

The event is an important initiative for the Greater Des Moines Partnership.

"Well a lot of people say all the job growth is in start-ups, the big companies don't grow a lot of the jobs and in fact, sometimes they let people go," said Mike Colwell, Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Initiative. "We look at a lot of the economic things that are stated nationally and it's all about the start-ups and the new companies. Well, this is where all the new companies are meeting up and talking so from an economic standpoint these are the people hiring and building new companies in Des Moines and the surrounding area."

The event ends at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
